GHS went down to HP with a 1-0 loss, sadly to say many chances were not taken advantage of.
HP grabbed an early goal with James Starns after the ball somehow got through the whole defense and landed to his feet, the rest is easy enough to guess.
The game looked like it was going to be a repeat of last Saturdays semi-final when andrew Turner had a breakaway and tried popping it over the keeper, unfortunately the keeper got a hand on it to keep the score 1-0. Ben Black had a marvelous shot that the keeper barely touched out with his fingertips.
HP played very physical and the game almost began with a near brawl, Franco had burned a defender and was taken out (literally) from behind...Franco did not like that and therefore got in his face.
So, dreams for a revenge win are over, GHS now look forward to facing St Joes on Tuesday.
St Joes defeated HP in pk's last Tuesday.

hmmmmmm. . .
HP beat GHS 1-0 in a win where the score didn't show the outright dominance of the Panthers. HP bagged a early goal after James Gass dummied the ball nicely and let it run on the James Starnes who put it behind the hopeless keeper.
The game looked like it would not be a repeat of last Saturdays semi-final after HP saw the ball on their side of the field for the rest of the game. However GHS had a single shot on goal compared to HP, who were in the double digits.
HP played as physical as they have all season and Franco went down on a challenge that deserved a yellow card. But was that it? Had Franco ever seen a yellow card? obviously not because as soon as he was fouled he tried to pick a fight with someone twice his size.
After the game, many of the HP players mentioned that the GHS fans and players sincerely believe that HP plays dirty soccer. Quite contrary many HP players said. Since they had been playing at a high level (which included yellow cards) so long, they said they weren't used to such diving and whining about jv-type fouls. Also many HP players wondered why GHS thought so highly of this game since it was one of the weakest teams HP play. So now that HP has moved on and doesn't hold any grudges, unlike GHS, they are happy now to have beaten St. Joes 4-1 and Asheville School 2-1. A great season lies ahead.
