Canes end in style!
The end of the season was ended well with one of the most lively games of the year.
As the seniors stepped forward as captains the confidence of the squad was lifted, as the last game for many key players the anticipation for a good win was raised.
But unexpectedly the Easley counter parts scored 1st with a controversial penalty.
After a run down the sideline, Coby had taken on Jared Davis who slide tackled him and kicked the ball out, but the Ref thought otherwise and awarded a penalty.
Derek Ward got a hand on it but still could not keep it out.
Then Andrew Turner had his shot deflected into the goal after a Valdez corner kick.
The game heated up with some decisions by the Ref, probably the most physical game of the season some words were exchanged between opposing players.
Andrew again took a shot which was hand-balled in the box, Franco stepped up and scored to his right.
Thus the first half ended 2-1.
Determined to finish the year well GHS stepped on to the field.
Andrew would once again show bright after a run down line and passing to an anticipating Franco who put in his second of the game.
Then a corner kick would give Noah Mckenzie the chance to head one home.
the last 20 minutes were dominated by the fired up Canes, shot after shot was bombed in as Turner hit the bar after a loft over the keeper, Franco rocketed one just over the bar and attempted a bike which also went over. Jonah Dew desperately looked for one also.
The defense shut down any threat that the opponents had in stock as Ryan , Vance and Davis were tough and strong in the back, Michael Ward had some issues with the Ref and received a yellow card.
Thus, the Canes ended well and look forward to future seasons.

Last match tribute...
Sadly, as the season comes to an end, we pay a tribute the seniors which will be sorely missed next season.
Jared Davis: A veteran who has been with the Canes ever since Rec-League, a starter-defender who has proved his worth in the back line. His performance is reliable in every game, and the half-backs feel safe with him behind.
Michael Ward: The stalwart defender has always been one of the key players on the team.
He has been a worthy team leader and captain.
Cristian Valdez: The left-footed midfielder who always preferred striker has been dangerous on the left wing as many teams won't easily forget the speed and tenacity with which he dominated.
Ben Black: The skilled central-midfielder has been the core of the team and one of the teams veterans, also a captain-leader he has shown control in the midfield.
Caleb Vance: The stocky defender has been a stone wall as he usually takes out the player instead of the ball which proved frustrating to opponents.
Ryan Payne: Easily the MVP of the season, 5-game clean sheet can be attributed to Derek Ward but it can only be said that without the lightning speed of Ryan it might have been different.
The clean sheet was ruined at Westgate where interestingly enough Ryan was absent.

GHS down Westagate again!
GHS went on to win their 8th consecutive game of the season as the beat Westgate for the 3rd time in this season.
A few defensive mistakes made the game 6-2 ending the 5 game shutout that GHS so strongly had defended, the mistakes were due more to slack and being used to not being challenged than anything else.
The offense shined as Turner started the pouring of goals in the 10th minute, a pass deflected by the defense and Turner shot to his right to put GHS up 1-0.
Jonah Dew would also score after some very fancy foot work that made the opposing defenders look foolish as they with mouths open saw the "one and only" Dew shoot past the keeper.
Westgate would score after a lack of communication in the D.
Second half would see Noah Mckenzie score his 3rd of the season with a well placed shot in the left corner, the keeper was helpless as he watched the ball blast by him.
Then Franco would score 2 goals with both assisted by Jonny Starns who had a remarkable game. The Cuban striker would run down the left side and shoot to the far post hitting it as the ball went in.
He would the same but at a more complicated angle, sending a rocket into the near top 90 to score his 21st of the season.
After a keeper substitution, Derek Ward (replaced by Caleb Vance who though not seeing much action did well and let nothing in) would score off a Franco pass,
shooting the ball in mid-air making a beautiful trademark goal.
The game saw lots of exiting moments as Noah Mckenzie showed some of his fancy skills and Franco hit the bar 3 times (twice off corner kicks) and Michael Ward sent an extraordinary bullet that barely missed the goal.

5th Clean sheet ...unstopable offense, beastly defense
Good passing, good communication and overall good soccer (even if its not Joga Bonito yet) was witnessed at the home field of the Canes.
Much credit must be given to the defense which has held 5 teams at bay and not a goal has been conceded in 5 games, the man-of-the-match honors must be given to Ryan Payne, Caleb Vance and Jared Davis as they presented an unstoppable barrier to the opponents.
Caleb Franco would start with the first of 8 goals with a left-footed shot to the far post and into the net.
Michael Ward would second it with a beautiful shot from 18 yards out.
Franco would again score After Michael Ward took the ball down the line and crossed it to the anticipating striker.
Andrew Turner would insert his name to the list and the ball to the net shortly after the second half began. Taking advantage of a defensive mistake he slotted the ball past the keeper.
But the highlight of the game came when Franco crossed the ball into the center and Moses scored his 1st goal of the season,
The game was marred by several minor injuries as Valdez left the pitch with a sore ankle and Jonah Dew received a courtesy reminder from the opposing keeper, Franco would limp off the field after being cleated in the shin 10 minutes before the end.
But the goals still came, Turner scored his 12th with 5 minutes left and Derek (replaced in goal by the stonewall Colin Price) wouldn't be left out and scored his 3rd of the season.
